California’s budget should protect our health - not put it at risk. Millions of Californians rely on Medi-Cal for essential care. Cutting this lifeline would strip coverage and vital services from children, seniors, and low-income families.

California’s budget should protect our health - not put it at risk. Millions of Californians rely on Medi-Cal for essential care. Cutting this lifeline would strip coverage and vital services from children, seniors, and low-income families.

I strongly oppose budget cut proposals that will deepen inequities and hurt our state’s most vulnerable communities.

Protect funding for federally qualified health centers that serve low-income families, seniors, and people who need care the most.
Preserve services for all families, including immigrants and mixed-status households.
Reject new Medi-Cal premiums that would make healthcare harder to afford for those already struggling.
Don’t rush decisions—wait to see what happens at the federal level before making changes that could hurt Californians.
Keep California healthy—our economy depends on people who can access care and be healthy.

As a constituent in your district, I urge you to protect Medicaid.

Any cut to Medicaid is a direct threat to community health centers and clinics in your district and the well-being of the 1 in 5 Californians who receive their care at a local health center. Cuts to Medicaid are cuts to community health centers,clinics, and the local economy.

Medi-Cal, California’s Medicaid program, serves 15 million Californians, including hard working adults, seniors, veterans, pregnant women, the disabled, and half of all children. It provides vital access to primary and preventive care. Medicaid reduces health care costs by keeping people out of emergency rooms and supports rural communities and health care jobs.

Cutting funding or blocking eligibility is not meaningful Medicaid reform and it will only reduce Medicaid coverage and access to care - shifting the financial burden to community health centers and clinics and forcing us to close our doors. Medicaid is vital to supporting and stabilizing state and local economies, especially in rural areas. Community health centers and clinics are often the only health care providers in rural communities – so funding cuts will impact health services for all residents, not just Medicaid beneficiaries

Health care is not a partisan issue, it’s a human issue. Medi-Cal patients come from Republican, Democratic, independent, rural, urban, and suburban districts. In fact, California voters have made clear that we need to protect this health care coverage, not tear it down. In November 2024, voters overwhelmingly supported Proposition 35 to protect and increase Medi-Cal funding. Prop. 35 won 68% of the vote and enjoyed strong bipartisan support – passing in every single Congressional district.

The support for Medicaid is strong—across the nation and in California. I urge you to stand with your constituents and reject these harmful cuts to Medicaid. The health of our state and nation depends on it.
